Diarrhea breaks out in Morrelganj: Scarcity of saline in Upazila Health Complex

Diarrhea was broken out in the different places of Morrrelganj, the biggest Upazila in Bagerhat district which consists of 16 Unions and a Pourashava since the holy Eid-ul-Fitr due to the prevailing hot spell and scarcity of pure drinking water, according the reports received here.
Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex cannot cope with the regular diarrhea patients who are being admitted to the Complex for want of both pushing and oral salines and shortage of drinking water. During the last 07 days some 50 diarrhea patients, mainly elderly people and the children to order to treatment there, For want of saline and pure drinking water in the Heath Complex the admitted patients are to buy the saline and pure drinking water from the markets for their treatment. The names of some of the diarrhea patient admitted to the Upazila Health Complex for taking

Bilkis Aktar (28) hails from the village Sankibhanga, Mostafa Shaikh (70) hails from the village Paschim Saralia, Alfi (10) hails from Uttar Saralia, Bazlu Khan (50) hails from the village Bhaizor, Chumki Aktar (16),Abdullah (13 months), Abdul Alim (04), Fatema (03),Kohinur Begum (50), Josna Aktar (20), Sabed Hawladar (42), Nurunnahar Begum (55), Jahanara Begum (40) and others.

A number of patients already returned home from the Health Complex after curimg from diarrhea. Dr. Mojahidul Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Morrelganj told, for want sufficient quantities of of both pushing and oral saline in the Upazila Health Complex admitted diarrhea patients are to buy the same from the markets for their treatment and that is why the patients are trouble for time being. The Health Officer expected, the problem will be solved very soon as the demand of saline was sent tol the concerned authorities amonthago.
He also admitted the shortage of pure drinking wate in the Health Complex and told, due to the ongoing construction work of the new building of the Health Complex rain water could not be preserved in 2 out of 3 filters and the rain water preserved in the rest one filter will be exhausted within a short time and after then the problem of drinking watercannot be solved until and unless it rains.
