The Bangladesh Coast Guard, with the active assistance of local residents, arrested the notorious regional robber chieftain Firoz Jamadar along with three of his active accomplices during a special raid in Bhola.

A significant cache of domestic firearms, live ammunition, and sharp weapons was recovered from their possession.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, the Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters informed this on Sunday night.

According to Coast Guard sources, the incident began when a gang of robbers gathered in the Baliakandi enclave adjacent to West Dhaniya under Bhola Sadar Upazila to plan an armed heist. Realizing the danger, local residents took up positions, managed to surround and detain the core ringleaders, and immediately alerted the Bangladesh Coast Guard for tactical assistance.

Upon receiving the intelligence, a specialized operational team from Coast Guard Base Bhola rushed to the scene at approximately 3:00 PM on Sunday. During the targeted intervention, law enforcement personnel seized one single-barrel country-made gun, four rounds of live cartridges, three sharp local weapons, and a wooden boat utilized by the gang to execute riverine robberies. With the physical assistance of the gathered crowd, the Coast Guard team formally took the infamous robber leader Firoz Jamadar (55) and his three co-conspirators into custody.

The process of transferring the arrested criminals, alongside the seized firearms, ammunition, and vessel, to local police authorities for formal processing and the initiation of legal proceedings is currently underway.

The Coast Guard will maintain its rigorous maritime and coastal surveillance networks to suppress criminal syndicates and ensure long-term public safety, the press release added.
