Coast Guard detained two notorious dacoits with arms, ammunitions in Moheshkhali

In a joint operation in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar, the Coast Guard detained two notorious dacoits with three local firearms, two local weapons, one live round, and two empty cartridges.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-Ul-Haq provided this information on Monday noon.
For a long time, it has been known that a group of notorious dacoits in the Dhalghat Para area of Maheshkhali Upazila in Cox’s Bazar has been carrying out criminal activities such as land grabbing, extortion, and destruction of government property by displaying weapons against the general public. When local people sought help from the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard increased intelligence surveillance in the said area. Based on secret information, it was learned that active members of the dacoit gang were staying with weapons in a house in the Dhalghat Para area of Ward No. 08, Hoanak Union, Maheshkhali Upazila. Based on the received information, a joint operation was conducted in the said area on Monday, at 0140 hours midnight, in coordination with Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Maheshkhali and the police.
During the operation, 02 active members of the notorious dacoit gang were arrested from the said area with 03 local firearms, 01 live cartridge, 02 empty cases, 01 weapon cleaning rod, and 02 local weapons.
The arrested dacoits are ,Md. A. Rahim (24) and A. Khalek (44), are both residents of Maheshkhali Upazila in Cox’s Bazar. The subsequent legal actions regarding the arrested dacoits and seized weapons are under process.
To maintain the law and order situation in the country, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has kept patrols active 24 hours a day. Through this, the law and order situation in the coastal and riverbank areas under the Coast Guard’s jurisdiction has improved significantly. The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future as well.
