BNP leader arrested for attempt to rape rickshaw puller's school girl in Lalmonirhat

A former BNP youth leader, Mofizur Rahman, also known as GS Babu, was arrested on allegations of attempting to rape a schoolgirl in Lalmonirhat. The incident occurred Monday evening when the girl was alone at home.
According to local sources, GS Babu allegedly entered her house and tried to attack her, but she screamed for help. Hearing her cries, neighbors and her brother rushed in and detained him before handing him over to the police.
The victim’s family stated that her father works as a rickshaw puller in Dhaka, and her mother was away at the time of the incident. The victim's brother said they are preparing to file a formal complaint with the police.
Mohammad Nurnabi, OC of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, confirmed the arrest and said the legal process is ongoing, though no formal case has been recorded yet.
