Human chain demanding environmental protection, climate justice

A human chain and rally were organized in Kurigram on Saturday demanding environmental protection and climate justice. The program was held at around 10:30 am in front of the Kurigram Press Club.
The program was organized by the non-governmental development organization Nari-Associate for Revival and Initiative under the “Community Action for Climate Justice and Networking” project, with financial support from the Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF) and technical assistance from Sompriti Aid Foundation.
Among those present were Farida Yasmin, Executive Director of Nari-Associate for Revival and Initiative; M. Rashid Ali, Chairman of Green Village Foundation and Convener of the Kurigram District Climate Network; Rabiul Islam, Project Coordinator of USS; Kartik Chandra Barman, Coordinator of AFAD; environmental activist Anwar Islam; tree lover Jahangir Alam Rana; Shoaib Ali, Secretary of the Ulipur Upazila Climate Council and representative of ESDO; and others.
The organizers said the human chain and rally were held to address the adverse impacts of climate change, protect the environment and ensure climate justice. Representatives and members of various organizations and groups, including Kurigram CSO Hub, Women in Climate Action Network (WCAN) of Chilmari, Ulipur and Kurigram Sadar, District Climate Network-Kurigram, Ulipur Climate Council, and Gender in Humanitarian Action (GIHA)-Kurigram Chapter, as well as people from different professions, participated in the program.
