A father in Narsingdi jumped under a moving train with his four-and-a-half-year-old child after being disrespected by his wife.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Chittagong railway line in Arshinagar area of Narsingdi town on Friday evening. Two people were seriously injured and were sent to Dhaka after receiving primary treatment at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
The injured Al Amin (25) is the son of Hashem Mia of Purba Brahmandi area of Narsingdi town. He worked as an interior designer.
According to police and local sources, Al Amin had been addicted to drugs for a long time. Unable to tolerate her husband's drug habit, his wife Rumi Begum left him a few days ago. While leaving, she left their four-and-a-half-year-old child Aryan with his father Al Amin. Since then, Al Amin often quarreled with his family to bring his wife back. He repeatedly requested his wife to return and start a family again. But Rumi Begum refused to return. Recently, Rumi Begum once again gave an assurance that she would return to her husband's family. Al Amin was eagerly waiting for his wife to return. But he collapsed in extreme despair when his wife did not return until today (Friday) evening. Due to this anger and mental anguish, when the Coastal Express train leaving Dhaka for Noakhali was passing through the Arshinagar area in the evening, Al Amin jumped on the train with his child Aryan. Miraculously, both the father and child survived, but their condition is very serious. The accident seriously injured the father Al Amin's right leg and head, and the child also suffered a serious head injury.
Dr. Monir Hossain, a doctor at the emergency department of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, said the father and son were urgently sent to Dhaka for better treatment. Both of them are in critical condition.
Narsingdi Railway Outpost Police In-charge Md. Nazim Uddin said that the accident occurred when the Noakhali-bound Coastal Express train that left Dhaka at around 6:30 pm fell under the train.
