
Ex-ministers Inu, Menon, Anisul, Dipu Moni remanded again

A Dhaka court on Wednesday put former ministers Hasanul Haq Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Anisul Huq, Dipu Moni, and Ex-MP Sadek Khan on remand for different periods in cases related to the July uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order after the accused were produced before the court with pleas for remand.
Inu, Menon, Dipu Moni were placed on a 4-day remand each in a case over the killing of one Obaidul Islam in Dhaka’s Jatrabari during the last year’s July uprising.
According to the case statement, on August 4 last year activists of Awami League and its associate bodies opened fire on a procession near Kazla Petrol Pump in Jatrabari, leaving Obaidul dead.
His family later filed a case against 58 people including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
Former Minister Anisul Huq was placed on a three-day remand in a case over the death of Md. Sujan in a firing in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur-Basila during the movement.
According to the case, on July 20 last year Sujan was shot dead in front of the Awami League party office in Mohammadpur’s Basila area. His brother, Md. Rafiqul Islam, later filed a case at Mohammadpur Police Station.
Former lawmaker Sadek Khan was placed on a three-day remand in connection with the death of one Mirajul Islam Arnob during the movement in Mohammadpur’s Basila area.
