
Adv Arifur Rahman appointed AAG

Some 34 lawyers have been appointed as Assistant Attorney Generals (AAGs) in the Supreme Court. Among them, Advocate Arifur Rahman, son of late Abdur Rob of Betagi Upazila in Barguna district, has been included in this appointment.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.
In two separate notifications signed by Acting Solicitor Sana Md. Mahruf Hossain on behalf of the President, it is said that in accordance with Section 3 (2) of the Law Officers Order, 1972 (PO No. 6 of 1972), the following 34 lawyers of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh have been appointed as Assistant Attorney Generals until further orders.
Earlier, the appointment order of all the Assistant Attorneys General, including the Attorney General, who were appointed to various positions in his office by August 12 was cancelled and 161 Supreme Court lawyers were appointed as Assistant Attorneys General until further orders. On the same day, another notification announced the appointment of 66 Deputy Attorneys General.
Since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the face of strong mass movements on August 5, resignations of officers of the Attorney's Office have continued. After this, on August 8, senior Supreme Court lawyer Md. Asaduzzaman was appointed as Attorney General.
Advocate Arifur Rahman thanked the President and all concerned for this appointment and said that I will always try to fulfill the duties entrusted with me properly and for this, I seek everyone's cooperation.
