Wife beaten to death by husband in Mirsarai

A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband over a family dispute in Mirsarai, Chittagong. The incident took place on Friday (Oct 17) at the tenant's house of Humayon in Moghadia Miapara village of Moghadia union of the upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Reena Akhter (29). She is the daughter of Abu Taher of Bherakhola village of Brahmanpara police station in Comilla district. In this incident, the police have arrested the deceased's husband Alamgir Hossain (30). Alamgir is also the son of Sharafat Ali of Larto village of the same police station. Both the husband and wife were working in a Khaishi garment factory in the Mirsarai National Special Economic Zone.
Police and locals said that Alamgir and his wife Reena Akhter were staying in Humayun's house in Miapara village of Moghadia due to their employment at Khaishi Garment Factory. There was a lot of quarrel between the husband and wife. On Friday morning, the two had an argument over family matters. At one point during the argument, Reena beat Akhter to death. Later, after receiving information from locals, the police recovered the body of the deceased from the spot.
Mirsarai Police Station OC. Atiqur Rahman said, the body of the deceased Reena Akhter has been recovered. There are injury marks on various parts of her body. The real cause of death will be known after the autopsy. The deceased's husband Alamgir has been arrested in this incident and preparations for the case are underway.
