Tulip Siddiq forged signature to transfer flat to sister: ACC
News Desk
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has accused Tulip Siddiq, former UK City Minister and niece of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, of using a fake notary document in a property transfer to her sister.
The allegation is part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged unlawful allocation of state-owned land.
According to the ACC, Siddiq used her political influence to secure government plots in Dhaka’s Purbachal New Town project for herself and her family, benefiting from irregular allocations of state-owned land. Additionally, the agency claims that she used a fraudulent notary to transfer a separate flat to her sister.
A charge document released by the ACC on Thursday (March 14) stated that the commission will now submit its charges against Siddiq to the court, which must approve them before formal prosecution can proceed.
Siddiq resigned from her UK government post in January following political pressure over allegations of benefiting from properties linked to the Awami League. However, she has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
