The Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) has strongly condemned and protested the cancellation of the declaration of the Bengali.daily Jay Jay Din on Wednesday.

The leaders of the organization said the district administration has shown extreme disregard for the High Court's instructions. Such inhumane actions of the government have also defeated the fascist Hasina government, alleged DUJ.

DUJ President Md. Shahidul Islam and General Secretary Khurshid Alam condemned the incident in a statement. They said that by canceling Jay Zayedin's declaration, Dr. Yunus's interim government is following in the footsteps of the fascists, the enemies of the media.

Sounding a warning to the government, the leaders said that DUJ has always believed in freedom of the press and expression. Therefore, the union does not tolerate any cruel activities against the newspaper or stopping its publication.

The statement said that on the one hand, the advisors including the head of the government are saying that the interim government will not exert any pressure on any media. On the other hand, in order to satisfy special circles, it has shamefully canceled the declaration of the Jai Jai Din in the holy month of Ramadan, just before Eid. This has pushed the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of journalists and employees into uncertainty. Such inhumane actions of the government have also defeated the fascist Hasina government.

The statement said, the head office of the newspaper was seized, the district administration office was informed and the press was changed. The publication of the newspaper continued as usual. In the meantime, when the concerned authorities approached the High Court, the court ordered the status quo to be maintained for three months. But the district administration showed extreme indifference in disobeying the High Court's instructions.

DUJ leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of the order, oherwise journalist community will be forced to take to the streets.
