Shibir hosts Eid lunch for JnU students staying in Dhaka

JnU Correspondent
Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Jagannath University (JnU) unit, has announced a special lunch arrangement for students, faculty members, staff, and their families who will remain in Dhaka during the Eid holidays. The initiative was confirmed in a press release issued by the organization on Saturday.
According to the release, both current and former students, as well as JnU officials and their family members, are cordially invited to attend the Eid day lunch. Special arrangements, including separate seating and privacy measures, will be provided for female participants.
JnU Shibir stated, "As Jagannath University is a non-residential institution, many students cannot return home during Eid due to financial constraints or academic commitments. Being away from their families, and lacking cooking support, many face emotional and practical hardships on Eid day. This initiative is aimed at supporting them and ensuring they don’t feel left out during the festival."
Speaking about the initiative, Asadul Islam, President of JnU Shibir and a member of the Central Executive Council, said: "Students at JnU suffer from the absence of residential facilities. Many are forced to stay in Dhaka during Eid and spend the day alone without proper arrangements. Our goal is to ensure no one is left behind and that everyone can celebrate Eid together with joy and unity."
JnU unit Secretary Md. Riazul Islam added: "Since the early days of the university, we’ve been organizing Qurbani and distributing meat among university staff. While we’ve faced many challenges in conducting such events in the past, we are grateful to arrange this program on a larger scale this year. We seek the cooperation of everyone on campus to make it successful."
Abdul Alim Arif, Organizational Secretary of the unit, said: "Unlike students at residential universities, JnU students lack the environment to enjoy festive occasions on campus. Through this Eid initiative, we hope to create a sense of belonging and celebration."
The organization also expressed hope that members of the university community will extend their support to ensure the success of the event.
