‘Legal Legend’ team champion in Bangladesh University’s Intra Legal Debate Competition

The 'Legal Legend' debate team of the 53rd batch emerged as the champion in the first Intra Legal Debate Competition organized by the Department of Law at Bangladesh University. In the final round held yesterday, Thursday in the university auditorium. 

They defeated the 'Irreproachable' team from the 54th batch of the same department to achieve this honor.

The final round was judged based on the participants’ logic, analysis, and legal expertise. The esteemed panel of judges announced the winning team through an impartial evaluation.

Among the debaters in the final debate, Muntasir Rabbi played a special role. With his fluent and informative speech, he skillfully analyzed and critiqued the opposing arguments, earning the title of “Debater of the Final.” In addition, Sadia Akter Mim was named “Debater of the Tournament” for her outstanding performance throughout the competition. Her presentation of arguments and strategic prowess captured the judges’ attention.

At the end of the competition, the university’s honorable Registrar Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Mahbubul Haque distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. In his speech, he said, “Debate is essential for developing reasoning, analytical skills, and presentation abilities among law students. Such competitions play a vital role in fostering students’ legal analytical thinking. I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to all the winning and participating teams. I hope this continuity will be maintained in the future.”

Special guests at the event included Professor Humayun Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Law, and Professor Tajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, along with heads of various departments of the university, senior officials, and a large number of students.

The final round of the competition was judged by Advocate Al-Amin Hossain, Head of Chamber, The Defense Council; Mollah Md. Ashraf Al Imran, Lecturer, Prime Asia University; Ms. Richita Akter, Lecturer, Notre Dame University Bangladesh; and Advocate K M Nasir Uddin, Associate, Legal Point.
