The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) today refuted news reports claiming that embedded Ansar members were involved in beating a youth to death on suspicion of theft at the BTCL office in Tejgaon, describing the allegations as baseless and inconsistent with actual events.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the force authority clarified that at  around 7:30 AM, several youths intruded into the Tejgaon T&T Wire Store area. Embedded Ansar member Shah Jamal spotted one individual committing theft and gave chase. While fleeing across a dilapidated tin roof, the suspect fell through the structure and sustained injuries.

According to the force authority, BTCL staff member Md. Shawkat Hossain recovered and detained the youth. Following verbal instructions from agency officials, security-duty Ansar members assisted in securing the individual. Ansar Section Commander (PC) Nurul Islam subsequently handed over the detained suspect to BTCL P.O. Sultan Mahmud and electrician Saiful Islam before returning to assigned duty posts.

The statement emphasized that assertions claiming Ansar members brought the youth to their camp, tortured him, or transported him to a hospital are factually incorrect. The force maintained that its personnel fulfilled their official obligations by transferring the suspect to responsible BTCL representatives through proper administrative channels.

Reaffirming its commitment to legal protocols and human rights, the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP urged media outlets to thoroughly verify facts with official sources prior to publishing severe allegations that could harm the institution's public image.
