
Human chain demanding withdrawal of false murder case against journalist in Sreebordi

A human chain was held demanding the withdrawal of a false murder case filed against Kazi Abu Said Dinar, working in Sreebordi of Sherpur on Saturday noon.
This human chain was organized on the main road of Sreebordi Upazila headquarters at the initiative of Upazila Press Club.
The half-hour long human chain program was addressed by Sreebordi’s President A.J.M. Ahsanuzzaman Firoz, Sreebordi Press Club general secretary Tarek Muhammad Abdullah Rana, Bangladesh Press Club president Manjarul Islam, Upazila Press Club general secretary Farid Ahmed Rubel, Model Press Club president Masudur Rahman Masud, senior journalist MRT Mintu, journalist Zakir Hossain, among others.
The speakers said, on last 25 April Friday afternoon, due to previous enmity between Masum Billah and Yusuf Mia, a clash broke out between the two sides at Vayadanga Baniapara village of Ranishimul Union. In this, Yusuf Mia was seriously injured. Injured Yusuf Mia was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. After 3 days, he died while undergoing treatment. In this regard, the deceased Yusuf Mia’s daughter Kalpana Begum filed a case with Sreebordi Police Station accusing Masum Billah along with 9 people.
The speakers also said that in that case, Masum Billah’s elder brother, Sreebordi correspondent of daily Manabzamin, Kazi Abu Said Dinar was made the 6th accused. The speakers alleged that at the time of the incident journalist Kazi Abu Said Dinar was in Gazipur. The journalist leaders stated that this would be proved through proper investigation and CDR examination. The journalist leaders demanded withdrawal of the false case filed against Abu Said Dinar.
Journalists working at Sreebordi Press Club as well as journalists from Jhenaigati and Bakshiganj upazilas also took part in the human chain program.
On the other hand, complainant Kalpana Begum claimed that journalist Abu Said was at the spot at the time of the incident. When talking to Sreebordi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Zahid about this, he said that complete transparency would be maintained in the charge sheet of the case. If anyone is not involved in the incident, no charge sheet will be given against them. He said he would look into the matter.
