
Attack on Jubo Dal leader’s house led by Chhatra League leader in Rupganj, 5 injured

Banned Chhatra League leader allegedly led an attack and vandalism at the house of Jubo Dal leader Oli Matbor in Rupganj. As a result, five people, including the Jubo Dal leader himself, were reported injured. The incident took place on Thursday morning in Nagerbagh area of Golakandail Union under the upazila.
The injured are: Golakandail Union Jubo Dal member Oli Matbor, his wife Bubly Akter, his younger brother Khalil Matbor, and neighbors Shafik, Nayon, and Rafi.
According to locals and eyewitnesses, Oli Matbor, a member of Golakandail Union Jubo Dal, was on his way to Bhulta Gausia by rickshaw in the morning. When he reached Nagerbagh 5 No. canal, Golakandail Union Ward No. 6 Chhatra League president Akash, along with Rony Mia, Robiul Mia, Mofiz Mia, and 10–15 unidentified men, intercepted him and launched an attack. At that time, they struck him on his hand and back with a switchgear. Later, when he fled to his house, the attackers followed and carried out further assault there.
When his brother Khalil Matbor came forward, the attackers hacked him on the head, leaving him injured. Hearing the screams, his wife Bubly Akter and neighbors Shafik and Nayon rushed to help, but they too were hacked and beaten severely. The attackers then left while firing shots and detonating cocktails.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex.
When contacted, Ward No. 6 Chhatra League president Akash Mia did not receive the phone call.
Bhulta police outpost inspector Mokhlesur Rahman said, “Police were sent to the spot upon receiving the news. The situation is now under control. The culprits will be brought under the law.”
