3 jailed in anti-drug mobile court drive in Begumganj

A mobile court sentenced three individuals to varying terms of imprisonment during an anti-narcotics drive in the Lakshminarayanpur area of Begumganj upazila, Noakhali on Monday.

The operation was conducted between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM today based on a tip-off, led by Begumganj Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Sadat Hossain, with assistance from the Begumganj Model Police Station.

Operating under Section 36(5) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities, the mobile court convicted and sentenced Md. Akter Hossain Akash (28), son of Sakhayet Ullah from Ward No. 7, Lakshminarayanpur, to one month of simple imprisonment and a fine of Tk 200. Additionally, Miraj (24), son of Delwar from Ward No. 9,

Lakshminarayanpur, was sentenced to one month of simple imprisonment and a fine of Tk 200, while Md. Arif (27), son of Md. Abul Kashem from Ward No. 11, Durgapur Union, received a 15-day simple imprisonment sentence along with a fine of Tk 100.

A police team, including ASI Habibur Rahman of the Choumuhani Police Outpost under Begumganj Model Police Station, assisted the mobile court during the raid.

Stressing the administration's firm stance on law enforcement, AC Land Mohammad Sadat Hossain stated that such public interest drives against narcotics will continue.
