A young man has been on hunger strike for 5 days at his daughter's house demanding marriage in Gairabetil Pukur Par area of Banshoil Union of Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail district. Attempts are being made to settle the matter in exchange of money by local leaders.
The home of the fast-tracked lover Rifat Islam (17) is in the Gairabetil Pukur Par area of the upazila. He is the son of Md. Selim Dewan, an expatriate of the area.
The house of girlfriend Sonia Akhter (15) is also in the same pond area of Gairabetil. Sonia is the daughter of Jannat Alam of that area. When we went to Sarezmin, it was learned that girlfriend Sonia's father is Jannat Alam and her mother is an assistant teacher at Gairabetil Government Primary School. Sonia's father Jannat Alam himself has married twice. Sonia is the child of a second family. Both the lover and the lover are minors.
Girlfriend Sonia has taken the SSC exam this time and boyfriend Rifat is studying in the first year of HSC.
