Tourism industry can play vital role in maintaining mental tranquility, peace in society : DU VC

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said that the tourism industry can play an important role in maintaining mental tranquility and peace in the society along with the economic development of the country. All stakeholders need to work in unison for the development of this industry.

The vice-chancellor said these things while inaugurating various programs organized by Dhaka University Tourism and Hospitality Management Department on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Friday. This year the theme of the day is 'Tourism is a step of peace'.

A colourful rally was taken out on the campus to mark the day. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan led the rally. University Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of Business Studies Faculty. Mahmud Osman Imam, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Chairman of Tourism and Hospitality Management Department Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Alam Khandkar along with teachers and students participated in the rally.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said, we are passing through a transitional period.

At this time, it is important to maintain peace at all levels of the country including family, society, institutions. Tourism acts as a catalyst in the process of peace building and thereby creates positive attitudes among people.

The Vice-Chancellor called upon the teachers and students of the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department to work for the development of the tourism sector through education and research.
