Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, said that the academic year 2023-2024 for first-year students is expected to commence on October 20, coinciding with the celebration of Jagannath University Day.

On Thursday night, the Vice-Chancellor expressed the university's intention to align the start of classes with this significant day, although the final decision will be subject to approval through the appropriate channels.

During a discussion with the Vice-Chancellors of General Science and Technology universities, there was a consensus on the urgency of beginning the new academic year shortly after the Durga Puja holiday. According to the Vice-Chancellor, only a few seats remain unfilled, and these will be allocated through the fourth merit list.

The admission tests for the university were held earlier this year, with the 'A' unit exam conducted on April 27, the 'B' unit on May 3, and the 'C' unit on May 10. This year, a total of 24 public universities across Bangladesh participated in the GST cluster admission test system.
