Muktijoddha Mancha leaders allegedly tortured RU student

RU Correspondent

A student of Rajshahi University on Thursday lodged a complaint with the university authority against some leaders of ‘Muktijoddha Mancha’ for torturing him physically and mentally.

Nur Alam, a second-year student of Bangla department, lodged the complaint with the university proctor and student adviser against Muktijoddha Mancha president Abdullah Al Mamun Swadesh, vice presidents Jarif Ahamded Manik, Jubayer Ahmed, and Tanvir Ahmed, joint secretary Shahinur Islam, and activist Nabil.

According to his written complaint, Nur Alam alleged that Tanvir and Shahin woke him up from sleep at 1am on Wednesday night and took him to Swadesh’s room at Matihar Hall where Swadesh, Jarif, Jubayer, Nabil and two others were waiting.

‘They told me that they wanted to seat another student in my seat and asked me to go to a four seated room on another block. As I did not give in their demand, they tortured me physically and mentally at the night’, he said.

However, Muktijoddha Mancha president Abdullah Al Mamun Swadesh denied the allegation and claimed that he called Nur Alam to his room since Nur earlier misbehaved with a senior student. Matihar Hall provost Professor Mustak Ahmed told that he had solved the problem after talking with the victim and the accused students.

RU proctor Asabul Haque said that he had assigned two assistant proctors to investigate the allegations.
