JU syndicate gets two chancellor-nominated members

The authorities have appointed two fresh members to the Jahangirnagar University syndicate, the highest decision-making body of the university, for the next two years.
The fresh members are - JU former Professor Ajit Kumar Majumdar of Statistics Department and Professor Ashraf-Ul-Alam of Jagannath University Statistics Department.
President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of JU, gave the appointment on Tuesday, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Education.
The notification said that the teachers were appointed to the post as per sections 22 (1) (G) and (22) (3) of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973.
Professor Ajit bagged the third highest votes at the last vice-chancellor panel election of JU and served the university as dean, proctor, chairman of JU statistics department, and president of JU Teachers Association.
Professor Ashraf served Jagannath University as the President of the University Teachers’ Association.
Contacted, both of the newly nominated members expressed their gratitude to the President and Chancellor of the university, Prime Minister as well as the Vice Chancellor of university.
