Seheli Sabrin appointed as Consul General in Florida

Director General of Public Diplomacy Division Seheli Sabrin has been appointed as Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate responsible for protecting the interests of Bangladesh in the important US state of Florida, especially providing consular services to Americans of Bangladeshi origin living in that region.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a notification in this regard on Thursday. The transfer order of Seheli Sabrin will be effective from the date of joining the new mission, the notification said.

Seheli Sabrin joined government service as a member of 24th BCS (Foreign) on 2nd July 2005. She served as the First Secretary of the Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra from 2012 to 2014 and as the Counselor of the Bangladesh Embassy in Jakarta from 2014-2017. She later served as director of the Americas division at headquarters (until becoming director general).

From 2021 to 2022, Seheli Sabrin served as Director General (Consular and Welfare) with reputation.

She has been in charge of weekly media briefings as the spokesperson of the ministry since February last year.

She holds a master's degree in economics from Dhaka University and later a higher degree in sustainable development from the University of Sussex, UK.
