On the occasion of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day, the Jagannath University branch student group organized a 'Zia Tree' (neem tree) planting program in the Jagannath University campus.

The program was organized on Thursday at JnU Campus. It is known that on the occasion of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day, JnU Jatiotabadi Chatradal conducted a 'Zia Tree' (neem tree) planting program under the leadership of Md. Mahamudul Hasan Khan (Mahamud), Joint General Secretary of Jagannath University Branch Jatiotabadi Chatradal. Jagannath University Branch Joint General Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hasan Khan (Mahmud) was present at the time.

Joint General Secretary Md. Mehedi Hasan Rudra, Md. Mehedi Hasan, Co-Organizing Secretary Aminul Islam, Sajjad Sant Safayet Siam, Md. Sohail, Md. Arnab, Action Secretary Kamrul Hasan Nafiz and many other leaders and workers.

Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Joint General Secretary of Jagannath University Jatiotabadi Chatradal said, Jagannath University Chatradal is a traditional organization. Since its establishment, our organization has been with all the students of the university and has been conducting numerous social activities like planting trees, cleaning activities for the overall development of the campus. Plantation of trees at various points in the campus in accordance with the example set by Martyr President Ziaur Rahman by planting neem trees in the desert of Saudi Arabia and to create a beautiful student-friendly campus for the future president Mr. Tariq Rahman.

How the neem tree became the 'Zia Tree'

Those who have ever been to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah, know that there are many neem trees in Arafat Maidan. Saudi citizens call this tree, 'Zia Tree'. It is said that this naming was done in 1977. Because martyred President Ziaur Rahman sent these trees there as a gift, they did not forget it. From there the neem tree is called as 'Zia Tree'
