An inception workshop on Urban Development and City Governance Project (UDCGP) under LGED was held in LGED Headquarter on Tuesday.

The worshop was presided over by Sheikh Md. Mohsin, Chief Engineer of LGED.

The project is funded by JICA and Government of Bangladesh and project location is Gazipur, Narayanganj, Cumilla City Corporation and Cox's Bazar Pourashava.

In the chairperson’s speech, the Chief Engineer of LGED advised all the project officials to implement the project with appropriate measure and care.

Mr. Raymund Garcia Go as Team Leader of the Consultancy services of the project presented the inception report consist of scope, goal, objectives and action plan of implementation as agreed in the project documents.

Representatives and Local Government Expert of JICA Bangladesh Office Mr. HIROKI Watanabe expressed his high hope to build "Sonar Bangla" soon by the altogether efforts of JICA and Bangladesh.

Mr. Abu Md. Mohiuddin Kaderi, Joint Chief Planning Commission expected that capacity of the target city corporations and pourashava will be increased and the living standard of city dwellers will be improved by the project thereby.

The Superintending Engineer and Project Director Md. Golam Mostafa explained all details of the project elaborately.

The Additional Chief Engineer Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain, Md. Nur Hossain Howlader, Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Program Officer, JICA-BD Office Ms Sanjida Haque, senior officials from Local Government Division, Planning Commission, IMED, ERD and Superintending Engineer of LGED, Project Director & Deputy Project Director of different projects, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer of City Corporations and Cox's Bazar Pourashava, Consultants were present in the workshop.
