Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Minister Md. Tajul Islam, MP laid wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu late Mujibur Rahman at the LGED headquarters on Saturday.

Local Government Department Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, LGED Chief Engineer Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain, LGED officials and employees at all levels were present.

Later, a discussion meeting on Victory Day was held at Kamrul Islam Siddique Auditorium. LGRD Minister Md. Tajul Islam, MP said in the speech of the chief guest in the discussion meeting.

This day has been earned by an ocean of blood. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dreamed of building this country. The dream shown by him is the strong leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the privileged daughter of Bangabandhu, the country is moving forward at the speed of Durba today. In 2030 the country will become a middle income country, in 2041 it will become a developed country. He also said that the engineers of LGED are working tirelessly to build the country.

He stressed on sustainability and quality in infrastructure construction. Today, the fortunes of farmers have improved as a result of the construction of various infrastructures including paved roads and bridges. Speaking as a special guest at the meeting, local government department secretary Muhammad Ibrahim said that LGED is one of the best institutions in the country which is working for the economic emancipation of the people of the country.

Today, LGED is playing a role in various developments in cities and villages. LGED built the first flyover in Dhaka city. Chairman of the meeting.

LGED Chief Engineer Md Ali Akhtar Hossain said, the country has upgraded to the rank of middle income country today due to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The incredible success that the country has seen in socio-economic development is well-known abroad today. In this journey of prosperity, LGED's involvement in rural and urban infrastructure development is extensive, the chief engineer said.

LGED has seen unique success in the field of road transport by building rural road networks across the country.

Md. Noor Hossain Howlader, Additional Chief Engineer of LGED gave a welcome speech on the occasion.

Additional Secretary of Local Government Department Dr Md. Aminul Islam, Dr. Sher Ali, Additional Chief Engineers and superintending engineers of LGED, project managers and all level officers of LGED were present.
