The Fire Service and Civil Defense is ready for fire and accident related security for the people returning home on the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Security has been strengthened by setting up temporary control rooms at 8 points in and around Dhaka. Mobile patrol units are stationed at various locations. This activity has started from June 10. The work of these temporary control rooms will continue till 23 June 2024. These temporary control rooms will be open daily from 8 am to 11 pm.

The fire service has taken this measure to ensure quick or immediate response to any untoward situation or disaster-accident on the way home on Eid and on the way back from home after celebrating Eid. The places where temporary control rooms have been opened are: Sadarghat Launch Terminal, Buriganga River Nauthol, Munshiganj Launch Terminal, Mawa Ferry Ghat, Paturia Ferry Ghat, Aricha Launch/Ferry Ghat, Hajiganj-Nabiganj Ghat in Narayanganj, Narayanganj Launch Terminal and Bandar Ghat. At these places, equipment such as rescue boats, diving units, buoys, fire pumps, safety vests, throwing bags, life jackets, mega phones, folding stretchers, first aid boxes, rain coats, rescue equipment etc. are kept in these places. However, the number of manpower and equipment is more or less as required in different places.

Deputy Assistant Directors and Senior Station Officers of various zones will supervise the functioning of these temporary control rooms. Nearby fire stations will be on standby duty at this time. Besides this, a reserve team will be deployed at Siddiqbazar fire station all the time. During this time patrol duty will be engaged in Kamalapur, Airport and Cantonment Railway Station; Dhaka-Aricha Highway, Mawa Expressway, Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, Dhaka-Tangail Highway, Paturiaghat Road and Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.

A patrol unit with divers will also be deployed in Hatir Jheel. Besides, fire safety units will be deployed at National Eidgah, Baitul Mukarram, Bangabhaban and Ganabhaban on Eid day.

It is to be noted that, apart from Dhaka, similar activities have been taken in other divisional and district cities to strengthen fire safety.
