President of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal. Md. Matur Rahman has allegly embezzled money through corruption by tricks at work.

An application has been filed against him in the NBR alleging illegal income and revenue evasion. In this application, it has been asked to examine the tax files of Matiur and his family members and the information of the revenue payments of various organizations in their names. All information filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is also mentioned along with the application made to the NBR.

However, when the media asked about the corruption against him at various times, he denied all the allegations. He was repeatedly contacted on his mobile phone for comments on these corruptions, irregularities and unusual wealth, but he did not pick up the call.

Matiur Rahman has been referred to as a corrupt officer in the application and it has been said, "He has been corrupting in various ways since the beginning of his career. Customs job is like Aladdin's ladder to him. Money came out by rubbing this lamp.

The reality of his wealth would make anyone think so. His illegal income started after the job became permanent. In a few years, he bought crores of FDRs and savings certificates from several banks. He bought a flat and land in Bashundhara with a large sum of money. He uses perfume worth lakhs of rupees a month. Change iPhone every month. Basically by harassing businessmen and working as a 'manager' of corrupt officials, he became the owner of this money and wealth."

According to the complaint, "the person who was doing well with his family even before getting a job in customs, after a few years of getting a job, he became the owner of hundreds of crores of rupees."

The complaint also said, 'Motiur Rahman used to win the hearts of the officials and employees by speaking beautifully and let them find out the fraudulent businessmen. That is, revenue evasion traders, C&F agents were his disciples. In exchange for money, his disciples used to contract for assistance in revenue evasion. Later, according to the agreement, he would take the money and give a portion to the corrupt officials. He kept the rest.

Matiur Rahman formed a syndicate with C&F agents along with his subordinates. How much revenue can be evaded in which file, how to manage whom-everything was done beautifully by them. In this, Matiur became the confidant of corrupt employees. His employees used to withhold files. They used to take bribes. If he did not get money, he would harass him.

The complaint states, "Several years ago, major duty evasion was detected in seven consignments of imported goods arriving at Chittagong port. Various importing companies and C&F representatives appointed by them evaded about one and a half crores of duty. At that time the additional commissioner of Chittagong Customs was Dr. Matiur Rahman. At that time, four and a half crores including customs tax and fines were collected, but one and a half crores were deposited in the government treasury.

Matiur Rahman's syndicate grabbed the rest of the money. In this way, Matiur Rahman became the hero of Customs by conducting several raids. But the syndicate he created secretly kept running. This is how he became the owner of hundreds of millions of rupees. Built luxurious houses, bought flats, have expensive expensive cars, family has wealth of hundreds of crores of rupees.

With the salary he earns, it is not possible for his family to live a luxurious life in Bashundhara residential area. He owns luxurious houses, flats, plots in various places in the capital. There are expensive expensive cars. It is alleged that Matiur Rahman has been doing irregularities and corruption by changing the names of the chairman, secretary and political persons.
