The students brought out processions marching towards the anti-terrorism Raju Memorial Sculpture on the university campus in the presence of huge number of law enforcers.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion, the police and Border Guard Bangladesh are present at all entry gates of the university and mobile internet service has been shut down on the DU campus.
Hasnat Abdullah, co-coordinator of the Students Movement Against Discrimination, said that they would not leave the halls and rejected the university authorities' decision.
"We are not facing a situation under which we have to vacate the halls," he added.
