Committee formed for special status at DU

A 5-member committee has been formed as per the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor to identify the issues applicable for special status of Dhaka University and provide necessary recommendations.
Retired Professor of Chemistry Department of Dhaka University Dr. Tajmeri S. A. Islam will serve as the convener of the committee.
The other members of the committee are Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University and Professor of Physics Department of Dhaka University Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan and Dean of the Faculty of Biology Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Khan. Acting Registrar of the University Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed will serve as the Member Secretary of the committee.
It is worth noting that Dhaka University has played a glorious role in the history of the renaissance of Bangladesh, starting from the Language Movement of 1952, to the Liberation War of 1971 and all subsequent democratic movements and struggles, including the 2024 anti-discrimination student movement.
This committee will identify all the glorious contributions of Dhaka University and recommend them for special status.
