Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 35,000 pieces of yaba at Shahpari Island in Teknaf.
On Sunday noon, Coast Guard Headquarters Media Ifficer Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi gave this information.
He said, on the basis of secret information, a team of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation in the estuary of Naf River near Golappara Jhauban, Shahpari Island under Teknaf Thana of Cox's Bazar district on Sunday (05 May 2024) at 3.45 pm. During the operation, if the movement of an engine-driven wooden boat appears suspicious, a Coast Guard member gives a signal to stop by torch and whistle.
Then some people staying in the boat realized the presence of the Coast Guard and left the boat and quickly fled to Jhowban. The boat was later searched: 35,000 pieces of yaba were seized.
He further said that the seized yaba and boat were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
