
Sherpur Bridge temporarily closed from Feb 28 for repair of damaged deck slab

Sherpur Bridge is in risky and any fatal accident could occur at any time, with this consideration, the administration has taken the initiative to repair the damaged deck slab of Sherpur Bridge.
The repair work will continue by temporarily closing traffic from 11 pm on Friday, February 28 to 9 am on Saturday, March 1.
The Office of the Director of the SASEC Dhaka-Sylhet Corridor Road Development Project of the Roads and Highways Department confirmed this information on Sunday.
Project Director AK Mohammad Fazlul Karim has informed in a press release that the damaged deck slab of Sherpur Bridge located on the Kushiara River at the 186th kilometer of the National Highway (N-2) will be repaired. During this time, traffic on the bridge will be completely closed.
The notification has asked to use the Shayestaganj-Mirpur (Bahubal)-Sreemangal-Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet route as an alternative to the Shayestaganj-Sherpur-Sylhet section of the Dhaka-Sylhet route. For the Sherpur (Moulvibazar)-Sylhet section of the Dhaka-Sylhet route, a request has been made to use the Sherpur (Moulvibazar)-Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj-Sylhet alternative route.
Vehicles plying on the Saidpur (Nabiganj)-Sherpur-Sylhet-Sunamganj highway of the Dhaka-Sylhet-Sunamganj route have been asked to use the Saidpur Bazar (Nabiganj)-Raniganj-Jagannathpur-Sunamganj route.
