
Leader of soil-excavating syndicate fined Tk one lakh in Raozan

A mobile court has fined a person named Md. Kamal one lakh taka for cutting agricultural land along the banks of Sarta Canal in Raojan, Chittagong.
The excavator used for cutting soil was also seized.
On Sunday afternoon, the operation was conducted by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Anching Marma in the West Dabua Zakeria Chowdhury Bhanga area of Ward No. 2 of Dabua Union. He said that agricultural land was cut at one of the two spots in West Dabua area and turned into a pond by making a hole about 30 feet deep. Kamal Uddin, one of the leaders of the soil-excavating syndicate, was fined one lakh taka after conducting the operation.
The excavator used for cutting soil has been given to two local people. He said that the upazila administration will continue its campaign to stop illegal soil cutting to protect agricultural land under the supervision of UNO Jisan Bin Majed.
