Huge banned polythene seized in N’ganj

In an operation by the Highway Police in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, 2,805 kilograms of banned polythene, which causes environmental pollution, was seized.

A mini covered van (Dhaka Metro N-23-1824), used for transporting the polythene, was also seized along with the driver, Mohammad Faruk (28), and his associate, Mohammad Rafik Mia, who were arrested by the police.

The operation took place on Sunday at 3:15 AM near Alammin Garments, next to Madani Nagar Madrasa, on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The Shibrail Highway Police Camp conducted a special raid, during which the banned polythene was discovered in the covered van.

The arrested Mohammad Faruk is the son of Mohammad Monir Hossain Khan from Maizkandi village, Farazikandi Union, in the Matlob Uttar area of Chandpur. His associate, Mohammad Rafik Mia, is the son of Mohammad Abdur Rahim from Jagirpara, Baksiganj, Jamalpur.

A total of 2,805 kilograms of banned environmentally harmful polythene were found, with an estimated value of 392,700 Taka.

Abu Naeem Siddique, the in-charge of the Shibrail Highway Police Camp, stated that legal action has been taken in accordance with the relevant laws.
