Businessman kidnapped in filmy style in Bauphal, Tk 5 lakh looted

Shibu Banik (65), an established businessman from Kalaiya Port, a commercial center in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali, was kidnapped in filmy style.
On Friday night around 10:15 pm, a gang of 8/10 robbers stormed his business establishment, took everyone hostage at gunpoint and abducted businessman Shibu Banik.
After the incident, a team of Bauphal police station has launched an operation to rescue businessman Shibu Banik. According to the relevant sources, businessman Shibu Banik was settling accounts for the day with his two employees in the Merchant Patti area of Kalaiya Port around 10:15 pm.
At that time, a gang of 8/10 masked robbers entered his business establishment, took everyone hostage at gunpoint and tied their hands and feet. After that, the robbers looted about 5 lakh taka from the cash of the shop. Later, businessman Shibu Banik was taken out through the back door and taken to a fast-moving engine-driven trawler towards the Tentulia River.
After this incident, panic has spread among the traders of Kalaiya Port. Shibu Banik's wife Krishna Roy Banik said that she wants her husband back at any cost. OC of Bauphal Police Station Kamal Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that several police teams have launched a rescue operation for businessman Shibu Banik.
The administration could not rescue Shibu Banik till the report was written. The traders have taken out a protest march declaring that all shops in Kalaiya Port will be closed until Shibu Banik is rescued.
