To raise public awareness and encourage students to practice honesty, an essay and debate competition on anti-corruption has been inaugurated. On Monday morning (August 11), the competition was launched at the Shyamnagar Officers Club, organized by the Shyamnagar Upazila Administration and the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee, with the support of the District Coordinating Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Khulna. The chief guest for the event was Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Ms. Roni Khatun. The event was chaired by Krishna Nanda Mukherjee, retired headmaster and president of the Shyamnagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee. Special guests who spoke at the event included Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Rashed Hossain, Satkhira District Anti-Corruption Committee President Md. Abul Kalam Babla, General Secretary Md. Anisur Rahman, Shyamnagar Upazila Press Club President and Assistant Professor Samiul Azam Monir, and Secretary of Shyamnagar Public Library, Noor Jahan Parvin Jharna, among others. The program was coordinated by Manabendro Debnath, General Secretary of the Shyamnagar Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee. Also present were Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Humayun Kabir, Upazila Education Officer Enamul Haque, Upazila Academic Supervisor Mina Habibur Rahman, OSCC Officer Pronab Kumar Biswas, Instructor of Shyamnagar Resource Center Md. Kamruzzaman, Vice President of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee Md. Lutfur Rahman, Headmaster Abdus Sattar, members Ranjit Kumar Barman and Suparna Karmakar, and Acting Headmaster of Nakipur Government Haricharan Pilot Model Secondary School Md. Kamruzzaman, among others. Students from 14 secondary schools and 2 madrasas in the upazila participated in the debate competition. It is reported that the competition will continue over several rounds on August 11, 12, and 13.
