Renovation on Dianjpur -Gobindaganj regional highway at night causing sufferings to people
Dinajpur Correspondent
Within two years of the repair of 106-kilometer Dinajpur–Gobindaganj regional highway at a cost of 882 crore taka, the road has sunk, creating uneven holes and ditches like canals. This is causing accidents every day and putting thousands of passengers in suffering.
On Saturday (9 August) night, in the Motihara area of Nawabganj, repair work was carried out by contractor workers on large potholes on both sides of the Tulsiganga bridge. As a result, a long traffic jam of 3–4 kilometers formed for 2–3 hours. Drivers complained that since the road widening, the two sides of the bridge have been regularly breaking and being repaired, which is one of the main causes of accidents.
Dinajpur Roads and Highways Department stated that from 2018–2021, the road was widened and repaired through 8 contracting firms.
Executive Engineer Asaduzzaman said, due to problems caused by rain, new cement casting is being done on both sides of the Tulsiganga bridge. He expressed hope that the work would be completed soon.
