On the occasion of the boat race, the Sonai River on the border of Satkhira's Kalaroa Upazila overflowed with joy and excitement. Thousands of people spent a day on both banks of the Sonai River in unbridled excitement. On Monday , the afternoon of Eid became the peak of the Milon Mela. The sounds of joy from one side to the other and the sounds of joy from the other side mixed in the air. Local journalist Ohiduzzaman Khoka said that to spread Eid joy, a boat race competition was held on the Sonai River on the Kalaroa border on Monday afternoon on the holy Eid-ul-Fitr day. The Milon Mela turned into a gathering of people from both sides of India and Bengladesh. The boat race competition was held under the overall management of Hakimpur Bitharigram Panchayat of 24 Parganas district of India. He further said that the boat race competition was held under strict security measures and with mutual cooperation between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Border Security Force of India (BSF). People flocked to the border of the two countries to enjoy the boat race competition. After 25 years, the people of the border enjoyed such joy in a festive atmosphere. Quoting the people of the border area, Ohiduzzaman Khoka said that many of the people of the border area of Bangladesh have relatives in India and many of the relatives of India have relatives in Bangladesh. During the partition, they became citizens of both countries as they were residents of the border. They also gathered on the banks of the Sonai River around the boat race. Seeing their loved ones from afar, they waved and greeted them. For a moment, everyone was in the joy of Eid.
