BNP's Convener allegedly threatened to beat OC of Moheshkhali PS

On 5th August 2024, hearing the news of the fascist government's downfall, the leaders and activists of Moheshkhali Upazila BNP held a joyful procession. On their way home after the programme, as soon as they reached Shafi Ullah Shafi's shop in Bania, another group of BNP members severely injured him. He died in the hospital after 9 days of treatment.
On Wednesday (13 August), a memorial meeting was held on the occasion of the 1st martyrdom anniversary of Shafi Ullah Shafi, the office secretary of Moheshkhali BNP and the general secretary of the Upazila Sramik Dal organised by Moheshkhali Upazila BNP, its affiliated and allied organisations at Babu Dighi's pad.
In the memorial meeting, as a special guest, Akhtar Hossain, a member of Cox's Bazar district BNP and Convener of Moheshkhali municipal BNP, threatened to beat the OC of Moheshkhali Police Station, Manzurul Haque and drive him out of Moheshkhali, as part of his derogatory remarks.
After the statement went viral on social media, a press release signed by Senior Joint Secretary of BNP Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was published on 13 August 2025, suspending Akhtar Hossain's primary membership in BNP and all positions at all levels until further notice.
Despite repeated phone calls to the OC to find out whether a GD had been filed at the police station, it was not possible to take a statement as the calls went unanswered.
