Saidur Rahman, son of the late Hazrat Ali of Baronnail village, has allegedly taken lease of government VP property in Porsha, Naogaon.
This is causing pent-up anger and tension among the people of the village. It is reported that 66 decimel out of 77 of land in plots 152 and 153 of RS-34 Khatian No. of Ronail Mouza of Baronnail village of the upazila is VP property.
Saidur Rahman, son of the late Hazrat Ali of the same village, secretly leased the land for 12 years at the beginning of the 2021-2022 financial year to Jewel Babu, son of Shariful Islam of Pathardanga village of the upazila.
When the locals found out, they protested at the time, but no one could say anything because Saidur was a supporter of the Awami League. In addition to the land in Saidur Ranail Mouza, he is occupying more land and is occupying the land without any documents by showing the administration his finger.
Due to this, Saidur leased 66 percent of the land mentioned as 43 thousand taka per year. Mansur Rahman, a member of Ward No. 9 of Tentulia Union and Barannail village, an elderly person Tamiz Uddin (Ambabu), Rezaul Karim, son of the late Abdus Chattar, and Anisur Rahman, son of the late Abdul Hai, said that the VP property no. 32/98 was used as a playground 15/16 years ago. But after the Awami League came to power, Saidur Rahman illegally occupied the field, cut the soil and converted it into land and without any lease, he kept occupying the land and cutting down the trees along with the crops produced there. They expressed their anger that they had threatened trees and crops worth about 10 lakh 60 thousand taka including the lease money till 2025.
They said that there could be a terrorist clash in the village at any time. They also said that they have filed a complaint with Porsha Police Station and an application with the Assistant Commissioner (Land). When asked about this, Saidur Rahman said that the mentioned lands are the property of VP. He has been occupying them for a long time. He said that he has filed a case in the court regarding this. He has no documents and he has leased the land, claiming that it is true. On the other hand, Nitpur-Tentulia Union Land Deputy Assistant Officer Rashedul Haque said that the VP property is under the sole control of the Deputy Commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner can lease. According to the documents, the mentioned VP property was not leased to anyone. If it had been leased, they would have been aware of it. However, they came to know that Saidur Rahman had secretly and illegally sub-leased the VP property to a person named Jewel without taking the lease. He said that action will be taken in the matter.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nabila Ferdous said that Saidur Rahman was not given any lease of land. He was called several times with documents, but he did not come.
Instead, he filed a case No. 18/25 in the Joint District Judge 2nd Court on 22/5/25, making the government the defendant, and told the Assistant Commissioner over the phone that he would withdraw the case if the mentioned property was leased to him. However, he said that they would take action in this regard.
