Journalists in Narayanganj formed a human chain protesting the brutal murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur, who was hacked and slit in the throat. 

The Narayanganj District Journalists’ Union (NUJ) organized the human chain in front of its office yesterday, Sunday  at 11:30 am.

Journalist leaders said, “Brutally hacking and killing a professional journalist in broad daylight is not just a murder—it is a direct attack on the security of the entire journalist community.” They demanded exemplary punishment for those involved.

The human chain was presided over by Narayanganj District Journalists’ Union President Abdus Salam and conducted by General Secretary Ahsan Sadiq Shawon. Speakers included former Narayanganj Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman Masum, Habibur Rahman Badol, the club’s current Vice-President Billal Hossain Robin, former General Secretary Sharif Uddin Sobuj, former NUJ President Nafiz Ashraf, Press Club Executive Committee Member Pronob Krishna Roy, former Photo Journalists Association President Habibur Rahman Shyamal, former President Mahmud Hasan Kochi, current President Enamul Haque, NUJ Treasurer Shawkat E. Soikat, former Fatullah Press Club President Syed Obaid Ullah, current President Abdur Rahim, General Secretary Niaz Mohammad Masum, *Ekattor TV* Senior Staff Reporter Habibur Rahman, *Amader Shomoy* Staff Reporter Mizanur Rahman (Sonargaon), Narayanganj Student Federation President Farhana Manik Muna, NUJ Executive Member Sabit Al Hasan, *Ajker Patrika*’s Siddhirganj Correspondent Shariful Islam Tonoy, *Jago News* Siddhirganj Correspondent Akash, *Somoyer Alo* Siddhirganj Correspondent Rashedul Kabir Khan, and *Asian TV* Siddhirganj Correspondent Faruk Hossain, among others. Journalists from various media outlets also participated.

Speakers further said, “Journalist Tuhin was performing his professional duties. By killing him, there is an attempt to silence free journalism. As a result, the entire journalist community is now gripped by fear.”

They demanded ensuring journalists’ safety, stopping violence against media workers, and completing the trial of the killers swiftly. Alongside journalists, various social organizations, professional bodies, and members of the public expressed solidarity by joining the human chain.
