
Banned polythene worth Tk 4 lakh seized in joint operation by Coast Guard, Environment Depat in Patuakhali

Banned polythene worth about Tk 4 lakh were seized in joint pperation by Coast Guard and Department of Environment in Patuakhal on Sunday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid confirmed this information on Sunday.
Based on confidential intelligence, a special joint operation was conducted at 7:00 PM on Saturday, 10 May 2025, by Coast Guard Station Patuakhali and the Department of Environment in the area adjacent to the old Tube-Well Office in Patuakhali Sadar. During the operation, approximately 2,000 kilograms of banned polythene were recovered in an abandoned condition, with an estimated market value of BDT 4 lakh.
The seized banned polythene was later handed over to Md. Mostafizur Rahman, an official from the Department of Environment Patuakhali, for destruction.
