Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim said that Bangabandhu was the first to declare independence on the night of March 25. Later, this announcement was read over the radio. A false statement was created among our students on these issues. The present generation needs to know the correct history. The young generation should play a big role in the upcoming elections.

She said this while addressing a discussion meeting and cultural programme on the occasion of Victory Day on Tuesday (December 19).

She also added that the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, included secularism in the constitution. He clarified the phenomenon that no one should use religion as a shield in politics. But most political parties use religion. The current Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, has given shelter to the Rohingyas from a humanitarian point of view; no religious issues are mentioned here.

She also said that the young generation can play a big role in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Everyone should work together. JnU students also have a lot of responsibility for capturing true history. Besides, as there is no hall for JnU students, the students live an inhumane life in the housing crisis. Thinking of their needs,at least we are trying to complete the work on the new campus quickly.

Mofidul Haque, the founder and trustee of the Liberation War Museum, was the main speaker at the event. He said that Bangabandhu led the movement for the liberation of the people of this country. At that time, JNU had a great connection with the history of independence in this country. At present, the present government has contributed a lot to the progress of development. May we break the black hands of those who destroy this contribution. The fight must be against external and internal enemies. Be careful about this. This process should be carried on among the younger generation.

The Treasurer of JnU, Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, said that this country did not become independent through any compromise. Our country gained independence through the blood of 30 lakh martyrs and through the great liberation war. At that time, the entire nation declared unity and made the country independent.
