With the theme “Be a Handwashing Hero,” World Handwashing Day was observed in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday.
The event began in the morning at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises, where Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdus Samad inaugurated the handwashing demonstration by releasing balloons and festoons.
Following the inauguration, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Nakib Hasan Torafdar presided over the meeting, while Deputy Commissioner (Joint Secretary) Md. Abdus Samad attended as the chief guest.
Amit Kumar Sarkar, Executive Engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), delivered the welcome speech.
Among others present were Jon Palash Hasda, Sub-Assistant Engineer of DPHE and Dr. Saiki Wadud, Consultant at the Civil Surgeon’s Office.
Later, a handwashing demonstration was organized with the participation of students under the joint initiative of the District Administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering.
