In Araihazar, Narayanganj, there have been allegations that two brothers were beaten up after calling for a farce trial over money owed to them on Monday night in Chhota Fausa area of Brahmandi Union of the upazila.
The two injured brothers were admitted to the Araihazar Upazila Health Complex. The relatives of the injured said that legal action is underway in this regard.
It is learnt that Yakub, son of Abu Said of that village, is in a dispute with Israfil of the same village regarding his debts. In this regard, Shahin Israfil, son of Ansar Ali of the same village, who was recently released from jail in a drug case, called a meeting on Monday night at a place adjacent to the shrine of Fausa Ahid Pagla. Yakub and his brother Rabiul Alam were called to the meeting. At one point in the argument, on Shaheen's orders, 10/12 people including his associates Ramzan, Jasimuddin, Manik, Nayan, severely beat Yakub (30) and his brother Rabiul Alam (28) and seriously injured them. They also attacked Yakub's shop, vandalized and looted the shop, causing damage worth lakhs of taka.
Araihazar Police Station OC Khandaker Nasiruddin said that no written complaint has been received regarding the matter.
