The World Handwashing Day was celebrated with the theme “Be a Handwashing Hero.” in.Moulvibazar yesterday.
To celebrate the day, the District Administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering, Moulvibazar, jointly organized a colorful rally at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday. The rally paraded through the main streets of the town and ended back at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises.
Following the rally, a handwashing demonstration was held in front of the office, and later, a discussion meeting took place in the conference room of the District Administration.
The meeting was presided over by Executive Engineer Md. Khaleduzzaman of the Department of Public Health Engineering. The Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar, Md. Israil Hossain, attended the event as the chief guest.
Speakers emphasized the importance of developing the habit of regular handwashing among all citizens. They mentioned that schools, colleges, and other educational institutions should organize weekly training sessions on handwashing practices. Regular handwashing not only helps protect one’s own health but also keeps others safe.
Other attendees included Md. Habibur Rahman, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office; Chandan Kumar Pal, District Officer for Disability Affairs; officials from various departments, teachers, students, NGO representatives, and members of the print and electronic media.
