Women dev activist Shefalika Tripura appointed as temporary chairman of Khagrachhari Hill Dist Council

Women development activist Shefalika Tripura has been appointed as the temporary chairman of Khagrachhari Hill District Council.
This information was given in a notification signed by Taslima Begum, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, on Tuesday afternoon.
The notification said that under Section 14 of the Hill District Council Act, 1989, Khagrachhari District Council member Shefalika Tripura has been asked to temporarily perform the duties of the chairman until further orders.
A separate notification issued by the ministry said that allegations have been made against Jiruna Tripura for undervaluing 14 members of the council, bad behavior, misbehavior with officials and employees of the transferred department, arbitrariness, nepotism, irregularities in teacher transfers, accepting bribes by withholding bills from contractors and various types of corruption.
An investigation into the incident is underway. Jiruna Tripura has been asked to refrain from all activities of the council until the allegations are resolved.
