Mass rally by Barishal Metro Islamic Andolon demanding national elections thru' PR system

A mass procession was held at the Barishal Town Hall premises at the initiative of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh Barishal Metropolitan City Unit at 4 pm on Friday.
President Prof Md. Lokman Hakim presided over and it waa conducted by City Secretary Maulana Abul Khair.
The speakers said that in the PR system, voters do not vote for individual candidates but for parties. That is why many say that in the PR system, voters do not know who will be the MP in their constituency. Basically, that is not true, rather, in the PR system, the possibility of the popular person in that constituency becoming the MP in each constituency will be increased, because each party will prepare its candidate list for all constituencies. Frequent government changes and political instability are not the same thing. Although there are frequent government changes in Italy, Italy is not a politically unstable country. Again, in Bangladesh, the government has been in power for almost a full term since 1981. That is why Bangladesh has not become a politically stable country. There is no fundamental division in Bangladesh. There is a party division, and we have seen the politics and government of the Grand Alliance in our country with that division - therefore, the idea that the government will change frequently if there is PR is baseless.
In such a situation, the PR method is an effective solution to implement the spirit of the July Uprising and protect the country from dictatorship, so let's build public opinion in favor of PR. Let's protect your and my votes from being wasted.
