Walton wins three ‘SDG Brand Champion Awards-2026’ for environmentally sustainable initiatives
Bangladesh's technology giant and superbrand Walton has once again been recognised for its commitment to sustainable industrial development, securing three honours at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026, including the title of ‘Most Sustainable Electronic Item Manufacturer of the Year’.
The awards were presented at the fourth edition of the SDG Brand Champion Awards-2026, held on Saturday evening at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka.
Walton received the SDG Brand Champion Award 2026 in the ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ category for its net-zero initiatives and energy efficiency programmes. The company was also honoured in the ‘Climate and Environment’ category for its green transformation and climate adaptation initiative. In addition, Walton was recognised as the Most Sustainable Electronic Item Manufacturer of the Year.
The latest achievement follows a similar success in 2025, when the company also received awards in three categories.
The awards were received on behalf of Walton High-Tech Industries PLC. by Additional Managing Director Md Yusuf Ali, Senior Executive Directors Md Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Shahjalal Hossain Limon, Tanvir Anjum and Protic Kumar Modak, and Chief Marketing Officer Zoheb Ahmed, and Head of EHS and Sustainability Md. Mostafizur Rahman Razu.
Reacting to the recognition, Md Yusuf Ali said the company was honoured to receive the prestigious awards for the second consecutive year.
"We are delighted and proud to receive the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2026 in three categories. We sincerely thank the organisers and the jury for recognising Walton's continued efforts towards sustainable industrial development," he said.
According to him, Walton has aligned its manufacturing operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as Bangladesh's national energy and power policies by integrating environmentally sustainable practices across its production facilities and workplaces.
He added that Walton has undertaken a number of renewable energy and green initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions while promoting efficient use of energy and water.
As part of these efforts, he noted that the company is implementing a 50MW solar power plant project at its headquarters in Chandra, Gazipur, entirely through self-financing. Walton has already installed 19.20MW of solar power capacity, comprising rooftop, ground-mounted and the country's largest floating solar power plants.
These facilities currently generate approximately 22,450 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually, meeting around 17 percent of the company's total electricity demand, he mentioned.
According to Walton, it has strengthened sustainable water management by safely recycling nearly 75 percent of treated wastewater through its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). In addition, the company has expanded initiatives for e-waste collection and recycling while promoting plastic recycling and upcycling to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.
According to Walton, these initiatives demonstrate that the company has gone beyond adopting environmental policies by implementing practical measures that contribute to long-term sustainable industrial growth and corporate responsibility.
The awards were organised by Bangladesh Innovation Conclave, with support from Sustainable Brand Initiative and Bangladesh Brand Forum, to recognise organisations making significant contributions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, 457 nominations were submitted across 19 categories, from which 59 brand initiatives, including Walton High-Tech Industries PLC, were selected through a rigorous evaluation process.
