Bangladesh received more than US$2 billion in remittances in the first 19 days of August, maintaining strong growth in foreign currency inflows, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.
From August 1 to 19 of the current fiscal year (FY2026-27), Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $2.03 billion, marking a 29.1 percent increase from $1.57 billion received during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
On August 19 alone, remittance inflows stood at $64 million.
Cumulative remittance receipts from July 1 to August 19 of FY27 reached $4.89 billion, up 20.7 percent from $4.05 billion recorded during the corresponding period of FY26.
Central bank officials attributed the sustained growth in remittance inflows to improved banking channels, competitive exchange rates and policy support encouraging expatriate Bangladeshis to send money through formal channels.
